The Woz: Alpha geek, Apple cofounder, business leader, ballroom dancer.

Mac pundits are all over it and ABC confirms it.

I think I'd prefer to see Richard Dawkins on Touched by an Angel.

I'm trying to find away to mash this up with "Be My Baby" from Dirty Dancing, but it's just not happening.

That's Metafilter's own Woz. (OK, he only posted the once, but that won't stop us claiming him as ours, right?)

I'd buy that for a dollar.

Wow, Jewel, Lil' Kim, AND Denise Richards? So Dancing With The Stars is where the late nineties go to die?

Now that the obligatory snark is out of the way, huzzah and all the best to Mr. Wozniak!

I'd bet the Woz reads this. Hey Woz, feel free to put Iced Tea in your Jack Daniels bottle baby!

I may actually watch this show now!

Okay, I know y'all will hate me for saying this... but why is this big news or all that particularly surprising? Or is it just an excuse for people to remind eachother that he posted on here once?

I'm actually more surprised that Belinda Carlisle is doing the show.

"I'd buy that for two dollars."

FTFY.

please regale us with a "encountering woz" story, or some other celeb that will vaguely impress us...

I'm always surprised where the Woz pops up.

I've never watched the show, but is there any chance for a Woz + Denise Richards pairing? Them going up against Steve-O + Jewel would make for some good TV, especially if it ends with Woz riding his Segway over Steve-O's nuts over and over.

I hope he does his entire routine on a Segway.

I would love to meet some of the (apparently) millions of people who watch this show and ask them to please stop. Nothing confrontational, just a polite request.

You see I'd always hoped that I would do something in my life that would benefit all of humanity; this may be my last chance.

Steve Wozniak is a hero to many people and somebody you might consider to be, in terms of how many people know him and all that, 'famous'. Also, he's not a professional entertainer, he's more of a behind-the-desk kind of guy, so dancing on TV is not just a stretch from what you might call the average TV actor's core competencies, but pretty dramatic and very public break from what he's generally known to do.

Between you and me, I think this opens a whole new realm of public figures to 'Dancing with the Stars'; They could have an all-Microsoft season, with Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Steve Ballmer, Ray Ozzie, and so on competing against each other.

The Woz is a huge prankster also. Like totally childish, whoopy cushion on the chair style pranks.

Check out his interview with Colbert. I am sure he would be entertaining nonetheless.

As if Ballmer wouldn't walk that...

Woz collects phone numbers. This is enough to make me want to watch.

Isn't that the whole point of the show? The premise has brought people that others feel are heroes (for various reasons) without dancing experience too. There are people who idolize Penn Jillette or Warren Sapp yet have no clue who Woz is. I've met 'em. They may not be you, but they exist.
