Oh, those naughty SMILTs. Or single men in their late thirties. Apparently, they mack on all the twentysomething chicks, and get away with it. Twentysomething guys, really, are too desperate to settle down to merit serious attention. "I'm shy and awkward and desparate for love!" Chandler cried as Janice quickly shut the door behind her.

Of course, anyone who can afford to take someone to Paris on a date is never going to be short of female attention. Unless, of course, they live just outside Paris, anyway. What is it with this genre of journalism that's predicated on missing the entire point in the Universe? I mean "[thirty-something men are] multiplying faster than ants at a picnic". The real story here is obviously a hot new kind of parthenogenesis

They used to call this "poaching" and it is a very old phenomenon indeed. Enjoy the ride fellahs, cause it never lasts. Eventually these guys will end up bald, fat, middle aged and boring and their gold digger "girlfriends" will flick them away like a ant crawling on their arm.

I'm not making generalizations about people, just the "meat market" scene which tend to be overrun with guys who just want to get laid and women who just want guys to spend money on them. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's why I don't waste my time in singles' bars.

The best place to meet someone is where hooking up is not the main theme. Bars, beaches, match makeing services, etc.. suck. Better off meeting someone at school, church, volunteer group, etc.. that way you wont be both looking over your shoulder knowing the other is just as likely to meet someone "better" through the same avenue. Have a common interest tie you together.. if that common interest is the dateing scene.. trouble. Then again many people dont want a commited relationship and enjoy getting what they want and moving on. Nothing wrong with that so long as both parties understand.

YeeHAH!! Lost the summer of love while in diapers, the age of casual sex was burning out just when I became free and eligible - now I'm actually in 'hot property' mode???? My God! What is this crap, who is this writer, where are these women, and these Izod sweater-wearing men? Please shoot me now because the universe is a lot more mind-numbingly dumb then I thought and if it is being portrayed as such in the popular writings of national newspapers I don't want to be a part of it. I'm twenty-five and single and I don't want those women who are 23, looking for men in their 30s. I know this goes against all that is man, but I want older women! Er, I have older women. I am happy now.

I found the article rather odd seeing as how a) I am in the SMILF age group, b) I do tend to date women in their mid-20's c) I don't dress or act ANYTHING like the SMILF's described d) I think the men they described are self-absorbed, immature assholes looking for a mid-life ego-boost. Pathetic. I take EVERY relationship I start seriously, why bother otherwise? My mother is 13 years younger than my father. I think in my case dating younger is just genetic, we have records of one ancestor of mine (Heinrich Christian Mercklen, came to the New World in 1703) who divorced his first wife, the sister of the Grand Admiral of Holland, remarried, sired 17 children, divorced her and married a 23 year old woman...
