movers and shakers in London town

I'll tell you one thing: if I was in London, I'd mosey on over to the Kinetica Art Fair. It looks like fun.

Its revival was heralded in 2000 by the Hayward Gallery in London in a largely retrospective exhibition, Force Fields, which demonstrated that kinetic art was "not just silly robotics"

What's wrong with silly robotics?

If I were in London, I'd mosey on over to a dictionary and look up "counterfactual conditional".

Looks awesome, though. I'm all about the kinetic art.

Some people wanna fill the world with silly robotics
And what's wrong with that?

If the river was whiskey
and I was* a duck
I'd dive to the bottom
and never come up

*suck it, grammar nazis.

If I were a carpenter,
And you were a silly robot
Would you marry me anyway...

When all you've got is a silly screwdriver, the whole world is made of silly robots.

Robots were silly, until that day.

I really wanted to go tomorrow, but I just can't afford the time. My girlfriend's going, and will be sure to tease me with tales of creepy robotic hands galore.

Neat. The guy they interviewed in the "look" link seems like a genuinely nice person -- at least none of the outward pretension you'd expect from esoteric artists:

"This make people smile. You know, it's really accessible. Kids like it, everyone likes it"

Whoops, make that the "Kinetica" link.

nothing more frustrating than still photos of moving sculpture. I will look anyway and imagine them moving around. Maybe I'll throw in some sound effects while I'm at it.

Good idea! Try this one.

I know what you mean, though. I really wish there was more video of these things in action.

Looks like a fantastic outing for kids. Especially if you've been looking for a graceful way to bring up the topic of pole dancing.
