This is the America I grew up in.

Christians are trying to move with the times. Unfortunately for them, that means trying to put on their best edgy suit. The results are hilarious and terrifying.

As a vehemently non-Christian person, I think you may be over generalizing. We're all trying to move with the times, and the results for many of us are hilarious and terrifying.

Most of the Christians I know would be at least as amused and terrified by these videos as anyone else - if I go find a bunch of videos of atheists being jackasses, what does that prove about you and I?

I'm not talking about the Metafilter guidelines, I'm talking about the being a rational human being guidelines.

I don't really get any of this. I did not grow up in (or in that) America and so I'm just seeing shades of tasteless-ness and or not-very-well-thought-out -ness. Pretty much like everywhere, though with very good production values.

So... this is a post about good production values?

This is basically "worst of the web". Sometimes the content can be so bad it starts to become "best of the web" ironically; however, such cases are rare. Therefore, you should probably build posts around content that might qualify as "best of the web" out of the sheer goodness of the content.

You know who else never ended their sentences with prepositions. That's right - guys who got to carry a scutum and short sword at work every day. Actually, come to think of it, that wouldn't be a bad compromise.

Anyhow, there are a lot of astute observations that could be made about the way Christianity has been reshaped in the last 30-40 years and who has profited from it. Or we can all point and laugh. Sure, I for the number of times I've been told things like 4/4 rhythm is inherently evil, I think they deserve some mockery, but, you know, its like this thing I read in a book somewhere. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

I liked this style better when it was Beakman's World.

The video at the top of their YouTube page has Mr. Edgy Suit waving around an M-16 and encouraging people to forgo the military to join a militia, or their silly website.

The anti-government kook in my head says this is a front for harvesting the names and addresses of people who are the audience this purports to be for.

Is that link to illuminati.tv meant as a "LOLBADWEBDESIGN" statement, or is the site about something group/phenomenon you think is an interesting example of changing pop culture? If the latter, it would have helped if you had written a brief summary about it and the organization, because it's basically impossible to figure out what it's about in less than 5-10 minutes of trying to figure out how to find your way around the site, and for the most part, few of the immediately accessible links say very much at all.
