Neat. It seems like Hawai'ian quilts got shoehorned into "medallion or framed center" when I'd think they'd be a separate category, but maybe it's just because there aren't many examples yet.

Wow. I'm not into quilts or quilting, but I certainly respect it as a medium. It's an art form, really. People — usually women — have always made quilts even when blankets were readily available because it's a form of expression and an outlet for creativity. And it's a real passion for those who are into it. I used to volunteer with a woman who from Toronto to West Virginia just to look at a exhibition quilt. So I like to see quilting being taken seriously enough that there's a resource and reference tool like this site.

I spent most of my adult life in West Virginia. There was always a large quilt display at the Cultural Center in the state capitol. Very beautiful art indeed.

Even though I haven't made a quilt in over 10 years, I still have my stash of fat quarters. Maybe looking at this web site will inspire me. I've never been a fan of the old-fashioned pieced together type (too country for me) but the last 30 years has seen a very exciting revolution in the use of form and color. This, for example strikes me as being a beautiful update to the Icon. The colors on this stained glass window quilt are sumptuous.

oh I wish the photos were bigger. Worth it if only for the topical sadism of "The Sun Sets on Sunflower Sue" Quilters can be a delightfully twisted bunch!
