Artw: Derlethism. It's been ages since I've read Lovecraft and he's a bit hard to return to as a writer so my memory for what's Lovecraft and what's Derleth is a bit frayed but nothing in the video struck me as not from Lovecraft. Also, one day I need to figure out if anything of Derleth's is worth reading. His reputation as a writer is rather poor but it would be interesting to sift for gems, at least in his Cthulhu Mythos stuff. Though I've heard that of the early adopters of the Mythos Fritz Leiber was the only one who wrote anything of worth.

It's been ages since I've read Lovecraft and he's a bit hard to return to as a writer... You know, I've never been really sure why the "Lovecraft is racist" trope is so persistent. Yes, frequently the non-white people in his fiction are primitive, inbred, and monstrous ... but then, so are the white fishermen from New England. Seems obvious to me that the commentary is on secluded communities of all types, not minorities.

Elder Signs first cropped up in Shadow over Innsmouth, and so are from Lovecraft, but IIRC it was Derleth who picked up the idea and had his characters running around waving them about like characters waving crucifixes in a Hammer horror film.
