Because it's Friday: Wiener Dog On A Minimoog.

New geniusness from Parry Gripp (who is kindly offering up two free MP3s, "Hamster On A Piano" and "Spaghetti Cat (I Weep For You)." Parry Gripp previously.

That is awesome. Friday is, indeed more than enough of an excuse for that.

I'd always heard "moog" pronounced like it rhymed with "rogue," though, and so that kind of bugged me.

Um...what a thoroughly descriptive title.

I thought maybe the dog was going to be playing the Moog. Still, it's catchy tune.

I'm not normally the kind to go for animal videos, but put one on a minimoog...

how can I resist?

I didn't look at anything but the title, but then the music started and I was like... hey, I know that voice. Rockin. How have I missed so much internet?

And wikipedia agrees with me! In exactly so many words!

So this guy puts peanut butter on his Moog and his dog licks it off and then prances all over it? Such people should not be allowed to own Moogs.

if that dog and this cat could cut some sides together it could be a major step forward for inter-species relations.

I have a Beagle and an Arp. But it's far too valuable for me to put peanut butter on it.

Usually when interesting and unusual Youtube clips are posted while I'm at work, I can make a half-assed guess from the comments as to what I'm going to see when I get home.

You, sir, have stripped me of even that.

(I get to hear the new Nerf Herder album whenever my iPod decides it's too cold in the car, which is all the time lately, and this really is the best song on it.)

why the reaction? it's kinda cute, but Moogs are expensive and beloved instruments. i'm a nerd. this is like your dog stepping all over your laptop.

Well the video certainly has all the components mentioned in the title and yet...

and yet.

Yeah, I confess, I'm disappointed. While it was a nice, catchy little song, when I clicked I assumed it was going to be a weiner dog prancing around on a mini-moog and making noise much like the Nora the cat video Dr-Baa links to above.

So I'm giving this one a solid B, I guess.

yeah, i thought the dog was going to be playing, too...i guess some weiner dogs are just more talented than others...

Well, as I said, I can't watch it yet, so if you're joking, I can't tell by watching the thing. Peanut butter? Really? I feel stupid for asking but you're having me on, surely.
posted by Durn Bronzefist at 11:39 AM on March 20, 2009

That was far too peppy a tune for such a lethargic wiener dog.

what

Oh, um, I have about 4 CDs in the car, and this is the one that's been in the deck lately. So when the iPod cuts out, I'm stuck with it. I realize now that, without knowing this, I look like a lunatic.

Also, prehensile lips.

Think how much more awesome it would have been if it was a sausage pony on a Polymoog.

...didn't do much for me; in fact, it locked up my entire computer and I had to do a restart. I'm afraid of it now.

Just going on record as saying I'd leave my wife for Parry Gripp. His absurd mini-songs can snap me out of the worst mood.

From the video's description on YT: "Üter the amazing wiener dog loves to lick peanut butter off of a minimoog."

Lame. I bet it was organic PB, too. Yeah, the kind you have to stir.

I would argue that valuable material such as this need not be a Friday only event. Every day could be wiener dog day.

The world would be a better place for it.
posted by quin at 12:41 PM on March 20, 2009 [1 favorite]

The dog probably thought the song was lame given that he has a heavy metal umlaut in his name: Üter.
posted by srboisvert at 1:02 PM on March 20, 2009

Yeah, Nthing the horror at the Moog being abused in this way. If he's stepping on the keys, fine, but he's just licking peanut butter or something placed ON THE MOOG! Noooooooo!
posted by cavalier at 1:03 PM on March 20, 2009

Somehow, this video got that damned jingle going through my head.

5 DOLLAH -- 5 DOLLAH -- 5 DOLLAH WEINERDOGGGGGGG

Also, licking peanut butter off of a minimoog is not a crime.

The song's catchy, but darn it, if you're going to rub peanut butter all over a freakin' Minimoog, we need to hear the dog actually playing it as a result. It's the wiener dog and peanut butter and analog synth version of "this thread is worthless without pictures," for the love of Bob.

Wienerdog Minimoog was pretty good, but I really don't think it was Best Picture material, personally.
