NY Times: "..students at some of the most selective private schools in Manhattan visited a Web page this spring to vote for the students they considered to be the most promiscuous. They voted on about 150 names — girls' names outnumbered boys' 3 to 1 — before the page was shut down last month.."

Hmmmm...Clearly lesbianism is running rampant. Otherwise, who are these girls having sex with?

Doug: Wouldn't it just mean that each of the guys got an average of three girls a piece? ;)

Sigh. Those poor girls. I hope some vengeful lass creates her own stupid-ass page complete with a voting system to determine the relative tininess of their schoolmates' cocks.

Well, it's good to see these scions of the ruling classes preparing themselves for careers in politics and big business, where such sexism is all too common.

Regarding the names primarily being girls:

It reinforces the sexual double standard that is grossly unfair to boys and girls. It is girls' names that are being put out there

Well of course it is -- it's not hard to find willing male participants for the sex act at that stage of life; for the most part, they'll jump at the chance. They're just looking for someone to hook up with. Is that unfair to the female gender? Probably, but adolescent boys looking for an outlet for sexual energy is an issue that isn't going away, methinks. Is it nature or nurture that boys are (typically) like that and girls (typically) aren't? I don't know, but I'd lean towards the former.

Skot, that is a wonderful idea. Since they're so close (distance-wise, not topic-wise), maybe we could put it on the MeFi server.

Clearly lesbianism is running rampant.

Hogwash! Lesbianism does not run rampant.

Lesbianism drives a pick-up.

(I'd been skipping this thread all day, cause frankly my dear I don't give a damn, but now all I can say is, Brad, will you marry me and be the domestic partner I adopt children with?)

All hail Brad. Made me laugh for (apparently) no reason in front of coworkers, which is always nice.

I'm enormously flattered, m.polo, but I must decline your kind proposal. Everyone knows I'm saving myself for Anil Dash.

And please, please. There's no need to hail me. And, of course, by "no need" I mean "considerable need."
