The 'yum' blog has a good post on Iyengar cuisine.

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is a little weird and unclear what the awesomeness factor is - maybe try again with a little more explanation or something? -- jessamyn

What do you mean dersins. Here: http://theyumblog.wordpress.com/2007/07/26/iyengar-cuisine/

More information would be helpful - this is almost completely without context.

Oh, come on. How much more context can you need than "All the dishes are followed by an Amudu (Amrit or Nectar) Saathamudu for rasam, Kariamudu for curry, Thirukkannamudu for payasams , and so on"? It's crystal clear!

For example:
Some of the delicious preparations for dinner are as follows:-
Veepampoo sathamudu.
Kandathippili sathamudu.
Milagu sathamudu.
jeeraga sathamudu.
milagu kuzhambu.
Paruppu thogayal.
Angaya podi
What are these things? Why are they delicious? What are the ingredients? I don't doubt that they're tasty food, but it seems like if you're not already familiar with Iyengar food, you can't have an appreciation of the information.

As far as I can tell, this post exists to make fun of the people who complain about Wikipedia links in every FPP.

If you assure me it is delicious, and point me towards a Tamil restaurant, I will order veepampoo sathamudu and paruppu thogayal just for the sheer joy of saying them.

The most delicious home cooking I have ever had was when I visited a friend whose familty was from Sri Lanka. I don't know if the food qualified as Iyengar cuisine, but it was definitely YUM.

I'm interested to know if you really sell Betel for a living?

I was hoping for a "Steve, don't eat it!" style thing.

I found Iyengar's Kitchen a bit more informative.

How the hell are people getting confused by the links? The website isn't that hard to figure out and you don't need to be familiar with the food to follow the recipes. A lot of those recipes sound really fucking delicious, I think it's a great post.

Yeah, the blog looks interesting and decent (I love me some podi pickles), but the "good post" bit was incomprehensible to someone who doesn't already know what those dishes are, and hence, not actually a "good post."

I don't know any of those dishes and I still didn't have a problem. The recipes are easy to follow with ingredients you can find in any grocery store.
