Five galleries of candid and behind-the-scenes production photos of the Star Trek cast, crew, sets, and soundstages in and around Los Angeles, circa late 1960s. I particularly like this one. And this one.

There's are great thanks. I like the ones of them smiling with each other, because you tend to hear more about the bad feelings which remain.

Great photos, thanks!

...Is it sad that I instantly recognized what episode this one was from?

I just saw the new Star Trek film not three hours ago today.

Are you referring to the Generic Space Action Product currently being shown in Idiocracy theatres?

Good lordy mercy. That last link of yours? Uhuru is... Working. It.

She is so totally badass. And we knew that already, but that pic... that just seals the deal. Also, dig how each male cast member has a different take on/a different reaction to Uhuru's badness.

Awesome.

Is this where I can laugh at people getting up in arms about the new movie? Cool..

This should prove popular in a certain demographic.

Great find! And boy, what I wouldn't give to get my hands on one of those models of the soundstage at Desilu.

It still freaks me out to see picture of Leonard Nimoy smiling in the Spock costume.

I bet you could get a shit ton of money from a Star Trek collector for this guy's hat.

Mod note: a few comments removed - can we not put huge spoilers for a movie that just opened here in the thread?

Okay.

So, my favorite three characters in the movie? In descending order: Spock, Bones, Uhura.

I was at that gala opening at the Air & Space Museum. They had cakes shaped like the Enterprise. I still have my exhibit poster someplace, and I think I got a free music from Star Trek movies CD. It was a fun time to be around Air & Space (I was working for A&S magazine at the time).

The hosting site has some awesome high nerdery worthy of exploration.

I hosted a TOS party a while back. We covered the walls in boys-bedroom glowy stars and had dry-ice drinks. The party music opened with Nichelle Nichols saying "Oh great, an eternity with nerds." and was liberally sprinkled with cuts from the Star Trek TOS Blooper Reel.

Man, I do love me some smiling Spock. Especially as I'm completely obsessed since seeing the new movie (to the point where I can't get anything done because I'm arguing with people on the internet about it), thanks for this.

Wait, people don't like the new movie?

Oh, not many. But I think Star Trek is a great example of how people can love something and still argue ad nauseam about it.

I'm The One that hated it. Right here. I'll get my own rope.

Wait, people don't like the new movie?

It's Star Trek, the original object of obsessive-compulsive nerd-fixation. How could fans not have huge amounts of nerdrage over it?

Also, dig how each male cast member has a different take on/a different reaction to Uhura's badness.

In particular, I noticed Walter Koenig's huge grin, and the fact that George Takei is nowhere to be seen.

Great pictures! I've seen Nimoy & the lollipop more than once.

See also the infamous blooper reel (video, not the sound files linked above).

I'm The One that hated it.

I didn't hate it, but I thought the good character moments trounced the incoherent plot. Points off for exposition via mind-meld.

George Takei is nowhere to be seen

The Chekov character was created, in part, because Takei had to take off half the season to film The Green Berets. This, by the way, is much more true than the story that he was created due to prodding by Pravda, an invention entire by the Desilu PR desk.

It's interesting to me how these people look like adults, but the actors in the new movie look like kids.

That would make sense, considering the characters in the new movie are green recruits fresh out of the academy, where as they're already an experienced crew when we first meet them in the original series, no?
