I find it hard to believe that there could be any videos of dominoes being knocked over that are more exciting than videos about dominoes being knocked over in the shape of letters. Really.

I like the part where his hand comes into frame and knocks the dominoes over.

Zzzzzzz....

Just kidding, it's actually kind of cute.

I liked how "G" was the Ghostbusters 2 logo.

And "S" being sexy was a nice touch.

I was curious whether Z would be "zee" or "zed", but somehow couldn't bring myself to skip ahead.

I want to sample Josh's voice from these videos and use it for a numbers station.

Anyway, I enjoyed these videos.

S sucked. It didn't look like an S and it stopped halfway through. I would post something to that effect on the YouTube page, but my Caps Lock key isn't working at the moment.

sorry, i'm usually allergic to cute, but when he sticks his hand in again to knock over the ones that didn't fall down the first time, well that's...well that's just damn cute.

I thought L was surprising. I wasn't expecting that.

Two year old attention whore.

I thought it was adorable. I watched them all, Ay to Zed*. This is an awesome way to reinforce the alphabet with a kid.

*Where and when did the Zee/Zed divide occur? What's that all about?

That your little boy, twoleftfeet? Congratulations.

While searching for something to do after reading this post, I went over to AskMeFi and noticed one of the first questions is about Domino Day. Then I thought, "Huh, looks like there's something called Domino Day coming up soon. That makes that last bit on MeFi a bit more interesting!" Then I found that it's not coming up soon. Still, it may make this post more interesting.

The Zee/Zed Divide is now my new name for the US/Canada border. Also, my next band.

Can we get a NSFW tag on this already? What are the mods asleep? Disgusting.

Not safe for watching if you don't want to fall asleep.

Here's me reading the comments before viewing the post- envisaging some massive domino tumbling effort shaped out of the alphabet- thinking wow, these comments are really snarky, then viewing the post to see why the snark, and fuck, seven fucking dominoes barely representing a letter being flattened by some grade school teacher. The best thing about this post is that twoleftfeet went to the effort.

This is a major undertaking for such a little kid. I'm impressed.
posted by DU at 4:51 AM on May 20, 2009

Yeah I am sure the little kid had to spend hours downloading the video, editing, doing colour correction, uploading to YouTube, adding the captions... Man, pretty impressive for a little kid actually.

For anyone looking to do something similar in the future, please note that Youtube now has playlists that will automatically proceed to the next video in the series.

Where and when did the Zee/Zed divide occur? What's that all about?

The older form is zed, from French zède (from Latin zeta, from Greek ζῆτα). Zee started out as an English variant but caught on in America (1797 Gazette of U.S. No. 1429. 3/3 Younker yield the yawning yea—Zounds, I'm safe at zig~zag zee. 1828 WEBSTER, Z... It is pronounced zee), presumably because it fits the pattern and marks a difference from the mother country.

I'm sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for the lower case alphabet to be posted.

FAIL on A, H, S, and Z, at least. He/she couldn't even be bothered to tweak the setup and try again to get them all in one go?

This is one of those cases where it would really help if someone close the child's parents -- a sibling or a good friend or someone -- sat them down and explained that no, Johnny isn't gifted or even above average, and that no one is interested in hearing yet one more recital of his childhood accomplishments, and could the parents please join a book club or something so they can come up with at least one other topic of conversation, preferably something other adults might give two figs about, other than their precious, precious little Johnny who is, in the end, just an average little kid.

...no one is interested in hearing yet one more recital of his childhood accomplishments...

Brings to mind the scene [starts at 06:23] in Parenthood where the Rick Moranis character (Nathan) is gaga over his young daughter (Patty) and her superior intelligence. "They're like sponges waiting to absorb."

Wow, harsh. Seems like that book club didn't go so well for your parents.

For those of you who are thinking "where can I see more domino work by Joshua?": Joshua's Number Dominoes. Little Joshua is partly visible in this video.

And no, he is not my child. Meanies.

I thought the cool part is where little kids can contribute to the internets. And no matter how much some of y'all hate it, it's loads better than at least 50% of the rest of the internet. And, being in the 50th percentile, puts into the "best of the web", hence, Metaworthy.

Like sexyrobot said, when he has to give things a second shot, well, that's just too cute. Maybe we add last week's meme, the "play him off cat" to those?
