Don't get me wrong, I love Jason like a son, but I have less-than-zero interest in seeing yet another link to, and discussion of, a so-called "a-list" weblog. Many, many people already link to Kottke, Zeldman, Glassdog, Evhead, and Camworld. All are well-regarded sites, certainly, but not a one of them needs the promotion. What Metafilter is lacking are links to blogs that are not as popular and that we don't know about. Call me nutty, but I would much rather check out a new, interesting blog everyday, even if I didn't end up reading it regularly. What Metafilter is lacking are links to blogs that are not as popular and that we don't know about. Call me nutty, but I would much rather check out a new, interesting blog everyday, even if I didn't end up reading it regularly. It's the same with so-called web design portals - most of the times, they suffer from the same disease - linking to all the same sites from the same notorious people over and over, while many great talents go over and die undiscovered, yearning for at least one drop of such popularity. My dad went to college with a guy named Karl Lewis. Although spelled differently, it sounded the same as Carl Lewis, which I found very amusing. Carl Lewis won his 7th and 8th career gold medals in the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. I'm still not sure what the hell is going on. I'm going to take a nap. Do you like naps? I do. There was this one time I woke from a nap, and mind you, naps don't refresh me as much as they put me in a nice relaxed zone for the rest of the day, but THIS time was different, because I woke up and was all, "Yes, world, I can take you on, world, yes!" Sometimes I take naps and I wonder why, because I'm not really tired, and Lord knows I have a lot of stuff to do, like surf the Web and not look for a job and write screenplays or begin that 6,583-part epic poem on the mating habits of woodpeckers that I'd been meaning to get cracking on since I got my master's degree, but lordy, no, I just grab me some shuteye and it's all, like, "do my teeth hurt? what about that rash? will I die alone and unloved?", really existential type of stuff, you know what I mean, but really, the point of naps is not so much to get rest as to break up the monotony of an otherwise pointless and dull day here on this spaceship we call Earth, and did you know that Buckminster Fuller coined the term, "spaceship Earth," so really, EPCOT owes his estate a lot of royalty money, but you can't trust those Disney bastards, not for a SECOND, they'll sue your ass just as soon as shake your hand, the forked-tongue bastards, how DARE they lecture to us about morality when they're letting Michael Jackson roam around the park in that stupid surgical mask that he wears because he's had one nose job too many and it's falling apart, isn't that gross? Isn't that just absolutely disgusting? This thread clears up my confusion. I though kottke was a latke made with beets or something. I have spent months since going to Austin and hearing every conversation bring up kottke. You know, *I saw kottke at Iron City* or *kottke was on the a-list*. Most restaurants in Austin don't have a-lists on their menu like places in Boring, Oregon and what would BBQ places do with kottkes on their menu let alone latkes. I can save my weekends from the wasted time of going to bookstores looking for the kottke recipes. It sounds like Mr. Kottke needs a hug. I will send my parents, they are *huggers*. The live out past the end of one of the BART lines. If the need for hugs is really bad they can stay in a hotel near by if that works out well.

I'd like to apologize to everyone right now and come clean. Kottke is a hoax. I created the character of Kottke as an experiment to see how far a web based character could go and now it looks like its gone too far. I knew it might be too much with the added "Meg" subplot, too, but I was too drunk with power at that point to know right from wrong and I've just let it all careen out of control. The people you see in pictures: I found those in a discarded photo album in Tampa, Fl. The X-10 thing: a ploy to get you all disinterested in this Frankenstein gone awry, and the fake apology above: a meek attempt to quell this thread and avert more attention. But now after mulling it over, I came to the conclusion that I would feel much better about myself if I just put an end to it once and for all and asked for forgiveness. I'm sorry about all of this, really. You can go back to your lives now.
