You Are Cordially Invited...

Here's the very creative wedding invitation that went out to invited guests of Jill & Matt Dorfman, two ordinary people who met at work and, after seven years and 48,284 miles finally acknowledged that sometimes when you know, you just know.

It's a self-link even if you declined the invitation!

Very cute! It's weird that the bride's name is in a much bigger font than the groom's though.

I really loved the instructions on how to use the postcard:
"The postcards slip out on purpose/Don't freak out just lift and pull"

Good grief that's a LOT of traveling though. I think I would have given up and made the move to NYC a little sooner.

The graphics on the main site were amusing too.

Aw crap, it's a double. Well, I missed it the first time.

Pfft. They were both on the east coast the entire time and could drive. Wah wah my love is so far away wah wah.

When my wife and I were dating we kept a relationship going between various permutations of Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Pittsburgh, Boston, Seattle and Atlanta. Oddly enough the 12-hour time difference of Beijing-Boston was much, much easier than the 3-hour difference of Boston-Seattle.

And good on Jill for avoiding NYC for as long as possible. The peripatetic nature of today's Western professional class is hard enough on relationships; no need to add the additional stress of high rent on a tiny apartment surrounded by hipsters.

I know this is a double and will be deleted but DAMN, what's with the high-octane, clean-burning, crankiness on Metafilter for the last oh, 48 Hours? Was there some mass cereal pissing event I was left out of? Jeeze.

I can't explain the snark, but maybe this can explain some of the pessimism:

I honestly had no idea who these people were, or why they were of note in any way other than they had a kooky wedding invite and a mildly cute story. The other post, however, at least explains who half the couple is, and how I might conceivably recognize him if he bit me in the butt.

Cute idea for a post, but I think this go-round kind of was missing something in the execution. And then the Ukranian judge gave it a 5.9 and people were free to snark.
