You know it's true/I'm happy to be stuck with you- high school students vie for a $2500 scholarship by attending their proms dressed in outfits made from duct tape. Interesting idea, although I question the No purchase Necessary clause in the rules, and I'm pretty sure that they made more that $2500 from all the Duck brand duct tape sold to make the outfits.

These are definitely the strangest people I've ever seen. Since when did top hats and kilts make a comeback? Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Hey. Duck tape sponsor my favourite rugby team Saracens. They do wierd marketing stuf liek this also. Although when they give away a free creme egg to every spectator at easter it's always much more appreciated. A fine brand of sealing (and fastening) products!

This couple are from my hometown high school in Indiana. The guy is a friend of my brother's. I guess they made quite the splash at the dance, and they were on all the local newspapers. I had no clue that so many other people would enter though. (Interesting note: you seem to be able to vote as many times as you'd like...)

I think that the kilts and other plaid examples (like this purple plaid duo) show a helluva lot more ingenuity and genuine thought than the outfits which are clearly just last year's dress with tape stuck all over it. But what shocked me was the relatively limited use of fringe, which I thought would be all over the place.

I'd love it if the sponsors did a thing with major fashion designers as a charity fundraiser, or a contest for the general public to design something for a prize. I think people could come up with some really great stuff.

What, timothompson, you haven't heard of Utilikilts? I've seen more than a few guys wandering around Seattle in them... everyone seems to think they're cool, too.
