Seeing this in the state legislature makes it very difficult to blame Bush for the aftermath of Katrina. Frankly, it makes it very difficult to blame anyone for Katrina except the Army Corps of Engineers for putting up those meddling levees in the first place.

Could he really not get an instrumental version of his own song? He's rapping on top of himself. This is actually a really common phenomenon in Southern rap (or maybe all over, for all I know). When I used to review concerts, I saw even big-time rappers like Lil Wayne and 50 Cent do the same thing. I'm not sure how to explain it, and it used to really frustrate me, especially when it's a dude like Wayne who you'd like to actually be able to hear. It's just one of those little idiosyncracies of the genre that you get used to after a while. There's a lot to love about rap from the South (and about Hurricane Chris, incidentally), so I found it worth getting over.

It's probably worth pointing out, too, that extensive overdubs are a pretty standard part of recording pop-rap vocals these days. Dr. Dre and Puffy were two of the pioneers, which can be read as either a testament to their visionary superproducer status or a sad commentary about the caliber of rappers they sometimes associate themselves with.
