Holdoveris a difficult but compelling exploration platform game. Marie must escape from an abandoned scientific research installation, with no assistance other than recordings left by her father decades ago. Makes extensive and very good use of the "hold your breath" mechanics found in many such games. Available both in Japanese and bad English. A more reasonable English translation can be downloaded from the IndieGames weblog and dropped into the game's folder.

Has some nudity and a little blood. Recommended for ages 15+. Maps and Japanese-language walkthroughs can be found by clicking "Capture" on the Holdover home page.

Sadly, this does not run under WINE.

Jeez, even the loading page is hard.

Runs on a Mac under Crossover Games, but seems to be going at about 50% of its intended speed. Until you get to a water portion, and it drops to about 1fps. Unplayable!

Has anyone had the chance to try this in a virtual machine? VirtualBox or VMware? Thx.

Looks good, on preview.

My vacuum cleaner won't run this. FAIL.

You need to update the firmware on your vacuum by holding down the power and 'suck' buttons simultaneously.

device55: holding down the power and 'suck' buttons simultaneously.

Ah, so it's Windows-native.

Played it on my boyfriend's Windows box. Cute game, fairly fun, but man the shooter section at the end is a pain in the ass.

When I installed the Engrish -> English file it seems to have busted the "crawl over small boxes" ability.
