These are illustrations from the zombie version of The Wire, right?

Indeed.

Huh. I'm all up on the Wire, but these, I don't get.

A little too much time in Hamsterdam, me thinks.

ok, so what's up with the actor who plays Cedric? every time I see him in anything, I think "holy shit, a real robot! we have real motherfucking simulated human style robots!"

Where is Sheeeeee-it? Can't believe he hasn't been done yet.

I would totally buy a box set of Zombie Mad Men. Deluxe edition, even.

Characters from the Wire, set up for easy stenciling on city walls.

Bodie doesn't even resemble Bodie. I had to check the caption.

McNulty looks OK. Carcetti looks terrible.

Simpsons/Wire mashup here, here, here, here and here.

+1 for Sheeeeeeeee-it.

Also, any word if these are CC'd? Whatever, but these are begging to find a soft cotton surface to land on, t-shirts, hoodies, etc.

Bodie deserves a better caption than "SMART ASSPAWN".

I know nothing of the show, but I dig the styles and typography.

Don Draper would be the suavest zombie slayer ever. Decapitate zombie. Recline. Sip martini. Furrow brow over book of Wallace Stevens poems. Decapitate zombie. Pork babe young enough to be his daughter. Slip into bathrobe. Light cigarette. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Pretty neat. Although I got my hopes up and thought it would be more than a bunch of portraits.

Simpsons/Wire mashup here, here, here, here and here.

This however is pretty fantastic.

For Bodie, I might've gone with 'Where's Wallace?'

TINY ARMOIRE.

Oh, man, how I miss Lester.

These are interesting, but I found many of the drawings unrecognizable without looking at the word balloons.

It's fun to see actors from The Wire pop up in other stuff. Domenick Lombardozzi ("Herc") was in Public Enemies. He had hair so he was hard to recognize.

I'm still waiting for Michael Williams to do a Honey Nut Cheerios commercial as Omar. "I do happen to love Honey Nut Cheerios. I don’t know if I want to walk down to the store in my pajamas for them. But I do love them."

Like ambrosia said, this needs more "sheeeeeeeeeeeeeee-it".

Reelect Clay Davis. Now.

I love the intent, but I don't care for the execution.

Remember when Daniels was chatting in bed with Pearlman and he did an impression of Freamon? It was spot on. First ep of S4 I think, maybe last one of S3.

Good times.

Bodie: "This game is rigged, man!"

First ep of S4 I think, maybe last one of S3.
It was second ep of s4 - The're showing it on BBC2 at the moment.

It's interesting seeing Dominic 'McNulty' West doing all sorts of stuff back lately, coffee promotions, even see him turn up in a preview for a drama next week about the discovery of penicillin. And Clarke 'Freamon' Peters playing Nelson Mandela, surprised how well that worked.

I want to know what the deal is with The Wire's British actors showing up in hip hop album intro skits. There was Idris Elba (who apparently has a music career actually) in Jay-Z's American Gangster. And recently Dominic West showed up as Eminem's drug counselor or whatever. Strange!

If I was out copping, I'd happily go for the bag that had Proposition Joe's face stamped on the glassine envelope.

I am breaking my own MeFi posting guidelines and not reading a word of this thread and will now remove it from my activity. I am only on Season 3 of The Wire and I would really like to not be spoiled, but DAMN THIS PAGE IS AWESOME.

That is all.

PS: I am disappointed that Ziggy Sobotka was not included.

The drawing I didn't get was good ol' Pryzbylewski.

Strangely, these portraits+catchphrases seem to miss the mark somehow. I recognize the characters, but it doesn't remind me of them or tell me anything about them. On the other hand, this makes me want to cancel my evening's plans and break out the DVD's

Of course you are right, fearfulsymmetry. I'm following the BBC run actually (although I've already seen the entire run once before), and I found the back-to-back airing of seasons three and four a little confusing. Especially because there was a weekend between the penultimate episode and finale of S3, then S4 started the very next day!

So I guess it shows.

Kudos on pulling through after all, grapefruitmoon! Hope you're enjoying it.

Domenick Lombardozzi ("Herc") was in Public Enemies.

As was Peter Gerety (Judge Phelan).

So I guess it shows.

Well that's exactly the same for me... but I think straight from series 3 to 4 in my first run through as well so it was a bit less of a shock. I find the 3 eps a week a pretty good pacing mind (though the long breaks they've had for sport etc have been a pain...)
