This guy, Miles Fischer, runs a really lovely and well-selected image aggregator called Leslie Miles that I highly recommend. (Though it's pretty mindblowing to find out that this oblique artsy blog you've been following for eight months is secretly run by the guy who played Tom Cruise in Superhero Movie.) Let me add here: I'm pretty sure it's the same guy, but I'm not 100% certain. At the bottom of Leslie Miles is a pretty prominent link to Miles Fischer's Facebook, and Fischer's full name is James Leslie Miles Fischer, and this interview with "Leslie Miles" confirms that he does the site under an invented byline.

I liked both, and let's face it, that rat or gerbil thing (I think it was a rat--been awhile) in the book could not have been done on film and avoided the dreaded NC-17. I'm pretty sure that if it had been in there Christian Bale would have flipped his wig on it (the rat).

that rat or gerbil thing... in the book could not have been done on film Well, the mouth full of, um... peach fuzz wouldn't exactly play in the suburbs, either. It just seemed like a fan-made film, cherry-picking six or seven of the better lines and two of the six good scenes and stitching it all together haphazardly in a much-too-fast and not-creepy-enough way. I kept expecting a car chase and some explosions. I mean, Dexter comes closer to the mood, and that's just TV.
