Just to be anal, I don't think this has anything to do with Comedy Central. Since I haven't had cable in a couple of years I haven't really seen Adult Swim lately, aside from keeping up with the Venture Bros. Do they put pretty much everything online these days or would I need cable to enjoy all of the wonderful dumb shit they have now?

Yes, with the exception of a handful of clips forced off for legal/rights reasons, Adult Swim has every single Robot Chicken sketch for free on their website. (As well as a few full episodes of every one of the shows on a rotating cycle too)

Shatner's "KHAAAANN!" always reminded me of Jack Gilford's imitation of "pea soup coming to a furious boil." The extended version makes it practically identical. I'd love to see "Koyaanisqatsi" playing under that clip.

my favorite part (other than the whole concept of a wrath of khan opera) is they did a great job with the little details that make it so opera-tastic, like the cardboard cutouts of the ships, and spock's exaggerated ears, and the choruses of non-characters. So great. 99% of their audience wouldn't know the difference, but they did it anyway.

Jon_Evil: "the little details that make it so opera-tastic" Funny you said that, Jon, as I had noticed something similar myself: how the "prefix code" was (if you look at it) supposed to be a projection on the backdrop ... that sort of dichotomy of "cardboard/papermache models of spaceships vs. fancy stuff projected on backdrop" definitely is an "opera-tastic" detail as well.

The thing about the "Khaaaan!" scream is that he's only pretending to be angry to make Khan think he's trapped inside the planet when in fact he's already arranged to be beamed out. So not only is William Shatner an awesome actor, Captain Kirk is, too.

This was both lovely and awesome, but I have some issues with the voices. For example, they've got Spock as a light, lyric tenor when it's so obviously a bass-baritone role. Kirk as a Heldentenor is perfect, though... Before the thread dies, here's how I'd distribute the voices: Kirk: Heldentenor Spock: bass-baritone McCoy: baritone Chekhov: lyric tenor Sulu: lyric tenor Uhura: mezzo Scott: bass Saavik: lyric soprano Terrell: bass Carol Marcus: dramatic soprano David: lyric tenor (or maybe countertenor) Khan: heroic baritone Now, who are we going to get to compose this...?
