Metafilter: Man Is Its Sushi

One of the comments in the thread was spot on. It does feel very Adult Swim-y, with an aftertaste of Venture Bros.

Or perhaps, Sealab 2021. Read it again with the old guy as Quinn, the young guy as Stormy (or maybe Marco), and the girl as Debbie.

You're welcome.

I just now read the intro text. The reason this was created? I didn't have enough time to go up to Gilroy for the Garlic Festival this weekend like I had planned, so here you go.

Also of note, this might be published as the second issue of Twist Street. Issue one is available now, but looks to be largely devoted to a 200+ page baseball comic. Based on this art and humor, it will either be amazing or a huge let-down. No middle ground is possible (plus I'm just not that into baseball).

At first I thought, "more vampire crap?" but this did an excellent job of getting the flavor of "True Blood" soda pop out of my head.

Extra Points for alliteration: "dracula's drycleaner".

I always thought sharpening the long end of a wooden crucifix into a stake, soaking it in holy water, rubbing it with garlic and gluing a silver bullet to the tip (in case you run into a werewolf on the way to Dracula's place) would be the coolest way to do it.

That was actually much better than what I was expecting.

It had never occurred to me to fuck with the undead instead of destroying them. I mean, maybe after they're un-undead, defile the whatever-it-is-you-call-the-remains-of-an-undead...

In the Quechua tongue, Artw means "Person who reads everything on the entire internet about comics and then cleverly posts all the good stuff here so I don't have to go look myself".

Bless you sir.

I was just reading this interview with Abhay Khosla at the Comics Reporter, which is pretty entertaining. I was led there because I found this post which references his Dracula work and couldn't find the actual work itself at the time. So thanks, Artw, for finding it! (Yes, the link to the comic is posted in the comments of that post I just linked, but it wasn't there when I saw it.)

I smiled all the way through it when I first read it a couple hours ago, but coming back now and rereading some of the lines in the thread here I am for some reason completely losing my shit. Heh.

I want to see the rest of it.

Ditto. It has almost the exact same pacing and rhythm as Sealab 2021. This is not a bad thing.

Ah, Screaming Lord Sutch. Pity the Monster Raving Loony Party is a front for rather nasty right wing types these days.
