I didn't live. But once.

Well that was short-lived.

It just goes to show, you can't be too careful!

*finds and deletes yolo.sol then reloads the game*

*repeatedly*

*gets tired before getting to the end*

This is all Achievement Unlock's fault. Now all the flashmongers have to show us that they're witty and self-aware with 'ironic' non-games like this and that one with 10-minutes of tutorial for 5 seconds of gameplay. It's the flash game equivalent of noise bands.

I would like to play a flash game, not have a flash game play me, for a fool that is.

Oh, the mefi tf2 server is "Pants optional" what am I doing here?

I don't know about you guys but I thought it was pretty clever. I like how dying is this just completely drawn out, ridiculous affair.

Well, aren't we clever?

...

ok, yes it's very clever and I enjoyed it.

I don't get it. I played the game for a bit (poorly), then after I died, the game will not continue? It just keeps playing these short little clips and then "game over"? What's yolo.sol? Ahhhh, I don't think I care enough to know the answers.

Does what it says.

tylermoody: the difference is that there are people (like me) who go out and buy noise and listen to it as our music of preference. I don't think anyone advertises their games as a "rip off waste of time games", nor is there a market of players who actively seek out and play "rip off waste of time games".

If the genre of noise was a bunch of artists pretending to make pop music and every song started out sounding like top-40 whatever then turned into noise and the only people who ever listened to it were people tricked into listening, then you might have something there.

In case anyone is really determined, the discussion is here on locating the Macromedia preference file (the yolo.sol referred to above) that allows the game to recognize you even if you clear out the usual things like cookies. Delete that file and you can start over again. Apparently the game is winnable, though of course part of the joke is that it's just a miserable flash platformer. The level of animosity kind of surprises me; maybe it helped that I went straight down the first hole so I didn't invest much time in getting the joke. I laughed.

"I don't feel too well."

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

Man, today I was hoping to play a real flash game and then there is a fake flash game.

This is all Achievement Unlock's fault.

Or is it You Have To Burn The Rope's fault?

Well, if you're upset about the game I don't know what you were expecting. I mean, look the title! It even tells you it's an annoying ironic indie game!

I died fairly early in the game and I'm too lazy to do what it takes to make it playable again. Is it beatable? Does it have a decent ending? Or is there just an unbeatable part of the game. I guessing you can beat the game and it'll just have another ironic-type ending.

Dying WAS the ending.

Isn't it always?

In the link I posted earlier to the discussion about how to make it replayable someone posted a link to a series of screenshots said to be from the end of the game (and it certainly looks authentic). So yes, I guess it depends on your definition of decent, no, and it looks like you're a pretty good guesser.

I found the Macromedia preference file referred to in that earlier link I mentioned and replayed it a few times (once you have the folder with the preference file open it's easy enough to just keep trashing it) but it doesn't change the fact that you have to go through the whole thing every time you restart and I couldn't bring myself to invest more than a few plays into it before I got bored. It did seem to me that it was the type of game where mostly if you take your time and stop and think about the obstacle ahead you could get through it on relatively few passes. Of course I'm the kind of person who finds it almost impossible to do that, hence my giving up. I'm waiting for the youtube video, set of course to that fucking Strokes song.

(I hate the Strokes).

Christ, y'all, do you not recognize a fucking metaphor when you see one? Why on earth would you bother going back to play again, when the game beats you over the head with the one and only point it's trying to make the first time you play through it, whether you beat it or not.

If I beat it it might mean that I will also cheat death itself.

I wanted to see whether the ambulance people said something different depending on whether I fell down a hole or wore my health down on spikes.

The game is beatable and here's the good ending:
