The One and Only Woodward Dream Cruise

Tonight ends the 15th annual Woodward Dream Cruise, where tens of thousands of classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, and more cruise Woodward Avenue in Southeast Michigan.

While the cruise celebrates the glory dates of the American automobile (and the culture that developed around it), there’s more to love about Woodward than just this one event. For instance, it just celebrated the 100th anniversary of being the first concrete highway in the world! And with over a million people attending and having a good time, it’s a sign that not all is bad in Detroit at the moment.

I'm so glad we could share this with my car-loving dad before he passed away. My parents asked us to come for years and we always said "next year." But last year we finally went, and I am so thankful we did.

There were some cool cars this year.

Mr. Adams took his Datsun 280Z out cruisin' today. He even let me ride with him, even though having a wife in the passenger seat diminshes the cool factor of the car exponentially (as he subtly informed me). Lots of cool cars, lots of fun!

HOLY CRAP! That's like the best car ever. Seriously, I grew up lusting after that car. I even think it's cooler than the DeLorean -- to this day!

There's a neat gallery here, too. One can never have enough of the XFE.

Hoping to find a new shot of my father-in-law's beauty from this year (that shot is from the 2007 Cruise).

Every once in a while I see a silver XKE parked near E10th and Ave. B. For some reason, just seeing it is enough to put a spring in my step and a smile on my face.
