The video was excellent, and I hope I see an opportunity to say tc;dm again sometime soon. posted by idiopath at 4:49 AM on August 25
I think I just had a seizure, either that or I just got programed to assassinate. Why not pass the time by doing a little papercraft? posted by Pollomacho at 4:52 AM on August 25 [2 favorites]
What is the happiest thing for you? is it puppies? kittens? ice-cream? shiny things?
The happiest thing for tubbypaws is a two am kitten parade through a jelly bean factory.
[...]
Yes it is. And what about unhappy? what is the contrary to happy for you?
two fifteen am when the parade is over, all the kittens in the rain waiting for taxis to take them home. It's so sad, kittens find it had to hail taxis.
Overthinking a plate of jellybeans? Tubbypaws may be one of us. posted by notashroom at 6:27 AM on August 25 [2 favorites]
The instructional video is superb. I'm not sure quite why towards the end the girl playing keyboard sprouts a cat head, only to then have her face melt. It's bizarre and wonderful.
I half expected someone to exclaim 'who is playing keyboard? Bear is playing keyboard, how can that be?' posted by opsin at 6:51 AM on August 25 [1 favorite]
The video is fantastic. The papercraft is fantastic. This site is fantastic. If you act like you are too cool for this, you are a pile of human garbage, destined to be pushed out into the Bwaaaaltic Sea. posted by Damn That Television at 7:04 AM on August 25 [6 favorites]
There are two spontaneous number moments that rank as classic for me.
The first was a few years ago when my friends and I were at a bar, bored to no wit's end, and a couple started a little table percussion with utensils and glassware. I thought I heard a distinct beat, so I began chanting, "I want my babyback, babyback, babyback, I want my babyback babyback babyback..." We all started smiling, but out of nowhere, a guy sitting behind us began with the solo, "Chiliiii's, baby back ribs..." Then the clincher: on queue, half the bar let out the barritone, "Barbecue sauce!" It was such a triumphant moment.
The second happened in class over summer...
This high school kid, having not learned the rules of community college classes, raised his hand to ask the teacher if he could go to the bathroom. We all snickered. Already a little embarrassed, he tried to leave the class in a hurry and ended up tripping on his way out. Unfortunate combo of events for the kid, so I proclaimed, "Play him off, keyboard cat!" And to my delight, a couple students looked at me with smiles and began too-too-too'ing their desks like imitation keyboards. We probably went at it for a good 10 seconds. The teacher and students looked puzzled, but it was a brilliant moment. I turned to the girl I'd been flirting with that class, and she gave me a look like I was the biggest dork she'd ever met.
Wait, I'm not supposed to raise my hand and ask if I can use the bathroom? No wonder my officemate always looks at me funny before saying "yes". posted by DU at 7:56 AM on August 25

Keyboard cat is my favorite internet creation ever. I would have joined in Christ what an asshole's seranade, and I'd totally make this if I had any interest in papercraft whatsoever. But I don't. posted by Antidisestablishmentarianist at 8:14 AM on August 25 [1 favorite]
I totally <3 that video. No way could I make anything like that, but I could watch that style forever. It reminds me a bit of Q Entertainment's Lumines games, the crazy distractions and simple cartoon art. Only the video's software, and obviously more narrative. posted by Nelson at 8:19 AM on August 25
I cannot stop smiling while looking through this site. It's all so charming. Even the drawings of ladies with melting faces are cute somehow. Thank you. posted by Nedroid at 9:26 AM on August 25
