August Wind is a top-down 'free-roaming shooter' about mining valuable metals off the backs of cloudeels. It's the Bachelor Thesis project for Jeremy Spillmann at the Zürich School of the Arts. It features charming 2D graphics and a gypsy soundtrack. posted by juv3nal (7 comments total) 6 users marked this as a favorite

Yeah, the gypsy music doesn't really work for me. Looks kinda interesting though.

Pretty cute! It fails to explain one fundamental game mechanic, though: LMB to mine gears from eels and clouds; RMB to shoot. It also seems to be unfinished.

wow, the visual aesthetic on that is amazing.

I can't tell anything about the gameplay from the trailer. sort of a shmup, sort of a gauntlet thing, sort of a starfox thing?

either way, watching that trailer was pretty awesome.

It also seems to be unfinished.

From the game's site:

This game is the prototype of the concept and the final exam in the game design school. You can download the prototype here, it is absolutely free.

Of course the game isn't completely finished and quite short. It lacks the missions and storyline objectives that would glue the experience together. [...]
