Since that list includes Beck doing two Daniel Johnston covers, I will use this as an excuse to link to my favorite live radio moment of all time: Yo La Tango playing at WFMU covering Speeding Motorcycle with Daniel on vocals over the phone.

Can't we go a day without somebody posting about Glenn Beck?

What?

Oh.

Nevermind.

Kudos to him for the balls to cover Pink Moon. A pretty solid version. Great Sunday Morning cover. Something about his cover of True Love Will Find You In The End rubbed me the wrong way.

The fact that Beck covered the Korgis makes me feel much less dorky for the summer of 1990, when I kept a cassette of Dumb Waiters in the deck of my Beetle, frequently blaring the music as I drove down I-20, I-30, Loop 820, or some such, barking along to "Rover's Return."

Beck Record Club
posted by Fuzzy Monster at 7:39 PM on September 9, 2009

if we're talking about beck and covers, i'll bring up what i've been bringing up for the last few weeks - beck's record club - " an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. An album is chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track is put up here once a week. As you will hear, some of the songs are rough renditions, often first takes documenting what happened over the course of a day. There is no intention to 'add to' the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens. "

while we're at it - i love his idea of irrelevant topics. so far, the first one with tom waits has been my favorite.

Sorry, nadwai. If it makes you feel better, Stylus Happenstance beat us both to it in this thread, and tawny was all over it back in June.

Can't we go a day without somebody posting about Glenn Beck? What? Oh.

(tangent)

Oh, PLEASE tell me someone, somewhere has created a YouTube video for "Loser" out of Glenn Beck footage.
