Giuliani's son is headed for high school in N.J.where he will attend St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale. The school is known for an excellent football program. Andrew Giuliani, the son of the mayor of New York City, will try out for the football team.

In New Jersey folks only call the state Jersey. In New York, they do not call the place York. Why this diference?

Maybe you fail to see the point. Giuliani is constantly boasting how great NYC is, but his son will not go to school there. It's a bit of a contradiction. There are some great schools in NYC. Our Secretary of State is a product of that school system. Considering those facts, would you send your kid out of town?

I don't ever recall Giuliani ever going out of his way to praise the NYC educational system, beyond the insincere platitudes any mayor has to spout as part of his job in order to keep the Board of Ed bureaucrats and teachers' unions off his ass. Which makes perfect sense, because New York City schools are largely a disaster. Yes, there are a few excellent public schools in NYC, but those are the ones that you have to apply to, and there's no guarantee you're going to get accepted. Maybe Andrew didn't pass the test. Maybe he's just not interested; why go to Bronx Science if you want to be a football player?

And how about those Big Gulps? Could we possibly need that much Mountain Dew?

Or perhaps there is a feeling that young Andrew (brilliantly parodied by the late Chris Farley on SNL, if I recall correctly) will be safer at this out-of-town school. When my uncle was something of a bigshot in a local public school system, he had to move out of the city so that his kids could go to school in another district for their own wellbeing.

Sneeze guards on salad bars - what's the deal with that? Were that many people really sneezing on the salad?

I see the point. Quality of schools may have nothing to do with it. He's going through a nasty divorce and wants the kid separated from it. Wise choice. Of course, when he comes for a visit there are many fine hotels in the area where his new "friend" Judy can "rest". Maybe that's not a bad thing either.

Just saw the remarks about the "sneeze guards" on salads. It's worse than that. One idiot was using a turkey baster to squirt urine on the salads. Sorry to ruin your day, but it's true. They caught the guy, but I haven't been to a salad bar since.

at a time when the kid needs to be reassured that both parents still love him, he's being sent away. "No, son, it's not your fault that mummy and daddy don't love each other any more. We just don't want you around."

ok, so maybe he's a little too old to be doing the 'they're divorcing and it's my fault' thing.

Don't jump to conclusions. For all you know, Donna Hanover, or Rudy is moving to the northwest 'burbs of NYC (but probably not Paramus--not affluent enough : (

By the way, what I find most amazing is that I haven't seen a picture--any picture--of that kid since Rudy first took office and he was mocked on SNL. That's pretty impressive.

I would like to end by emphasizing once again that I really like to eat hot dogs. If any of you people disagree, I loathe you. I despise you. Not only that, but I also despise all your loved ones. I want to see them torn to pieces by wild dogs. If I ever meet you in person, I'll smash your brains in with a fucking bat. Then we'll see who doesn't like hot dogs.
