Diablo II Goes Gold!The official release date is now next week, 6/29/01. Diablo was addictive, Hellfire was even worse. I spent a six months playing Diablo II non stop and now this. I hope my wife doesn't kick me and my Assassin out the door.

I just beat Diablo for the first time about 10 minutes ago. Lord help us all come Thursday.

I beat diablo 2 in 3 days (about 15 hours)
I then sold it to my friend for the exact same price.

It's a very unrewarding monster smasher where you don't get enough in return. Throw in a bad multi-player system, and it's just not that much fun.

Well my friends and I have a lot of fun with it. It's the best cross-platform multiplayer game out right now.

I loved Diablo I, but Diablo II was boring at times. I no longer play it.

Btw one of the best multiplayer game is the GTA series. It's fast paced and tons of fun.

(Minor clarification: Diablo II went gold ages ago. This is the expansion pack.)

The timing is right for x-pack. I was tired of Diablo II a few months ago, but now I'm tired of Black and White, so some hours of monster chopping would suit me fine.

The other in-house Blizzard expansion, Brood War for Starcraft, added a lot to the game, and it looks like Lord of Destruction is ambitious too. More than new items and locations, it comes with a new resolution (800x600) and a new category of magic items: runes.

Runes are targeted at the Realm player, who uses Blizzard's mostly-secure but hard-to-access servers. Runes only work in combinations and will require a lot of trading to use effectively. There's an article on Diablo II.net that notes that the average player will find 144,000 of the most common rune before finding the rare Zod rune. Even in university, I didn't have that kind of time.

On other hand, if you find a Zod, you could probably sell this imaginary letter on eBay for hundreds of dollars at least, which would have to be a record, as imaginary letters go.

When Diablo gets boring, try out one of the Angband variants. (I personally recommend ZAngband.) It's free, and just as addictive, if you can get past the fact that you're a little @ sign that runs around and kills letters. (And you don't even have to buy the letters on eBay first.)
