The ever-oddly dated Project Censored has released its list of undercovered and ignored stories for 2010.
Apparently the invention of time travel has been censored as well.

This isn't so much a "2010" thing as a "We've been selling out to Wall Street since it was a homestead that belonged to some Dutch Calvinist settler" thing.

They've gone a bit off the rails, yeah. It reads more like a 90's style conspiracy-theory fad revival, which is a shame, as there may be a story with real meat in there, but you can't pick it out from the kookiness.

How are 'secret' agreements about presidential debates in 2008 (something I seem to remember seeing widely reported and discussed at the time) a top censored story of 2010? What's the difference between 'US Congress sells out to Wall Street' and 'Lobbyists buy Congress'?
It's a worthy project in principle, but it seems to have turned into a self-perpetuating phenomenon catering exclusively to one political perspective.

Actually, to redeem myself with an attempt at a substantive comment: I think there's plenty of real meat actually there, and it's a shame if we can't take it seriously without reducing it to a cutesy diminutive of "kooky". It's not so much kookiness, as the acknowledgment of the sort of things we self-satisfied jaded types tend to find it trite that people would still comment on. I mean, come on, Lobbyists Buy Congress, Profits Made In Warzones, Latino Governments Pass Zany Laws. That's old news man! We all know! It's embarrassing that you'd even think to mention it, as if we weren't aware. Well we've known for a while now, and nothing much changes, so I guess I concur with the Project, that someone has to keep beating the drums.

All these stories make me want to see more politicians do ads like Bob Dole selling pepsi cola or viagra, but before the elections. That way I know which sponsors I am voting for and what I can expect - like Sen. Baucus in his NASCAR jacket - you know who he's driving for.

To me, the real story on the Trilateral Commission is that both George H.W. Bush (R) and Bill Clinton (D) are members.

There's actually one story here I either hadn't heard before or had let slip my mind: The story about Mike Connell's suspiciously-timed death.
Whenever someone involved in a political corruption or other politically charged criminal investigation or court proceeding dies--especially when it's either in a plane crash or by apparent suicide--I almost just automatically assume it's a political assassination.

I don't have anything to say about the comment -- actually, I probably do but I don't have the time to read and rant at the moment -- but why didn't they just make it an ordered bullet list instead of having numbered text in the list items of an unordered bullet list?

Here we go again -- the criteria for inclusion? That they have been published elsewhere first. Hello? What's exactly censored here? There is not a single item on that list which surprises me. People who compile this list just don't get it -- these are stories that may not have gained traction or provoke the outrage they thought they ought to get, but by no means should public apathy be confused with censorship...

The Mike Connell plane crash was covered here on mefi as I thought it was suspicious and deserved inquiry. I still do, and so does his family. Unfortunately I don't think getting lumped with other Congress Is Corrupt Film At 11 type stories serves that cause very well.
