Yes.
Thanks for this, the main videos were a fun watch, but I owe many thanks to Blazecock Pileon for helping me realize that I need to learn to play the theremin. posted by dnesan at 1:55 PM on October 27 [1 favorite has favorites]

That theremin guy also did a cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" that cracked me up when I found it a year or two ago.

Oh god oh god I love the Sonic music so much. I think I said this in a dream once:
The keyboardist is a little overly twitchy, especially in the Chemical Plant Zone, but the rendition of Casino Night Zone is just gorgeous. posted by nosila at 4:11 PM on October 27
Awesome! The sonic music is my favorite. posted by meta87 at 4:23 PM on October 27
The Advantage's Dr. Wily was all right, and the Minibosses give it a good go, but Missing Nin's version is the best ever. Unfortunately, Missing Nin is...missing -- I can't seem to find anything about them on the Web at all. posted by darksasami at 4:23 PM on October 27
Man, I played Sonic so much back in the day, and of course when you played Sonic you had to sing along.
"Sonic the goofy hedgehog
He's such a goofy hedgehog
Sonic the goofy hedgehog
He's really a goofy hedgehog
Because
He runs and jumps
To rescue his friends
From that fiend Dr. Robotnik!"

That is the third and final time I post that link to Metafilter. I so desperately want it to be true.
Toejam and Earl... that also takes me back. posted by painquale at 5:23 PM on October 27
They are indeed very good. Hooray video game music! posted by danb at 6:29 PM on October 27
I think the guitarist is fudging the chord progression on Kakariko Village, though. I've, uh, looked at that one in a bit of detail before. posted by danb at 6:31 PM on October 27
It's hard for me not to have a soft spot for MetroidMetal. I mean, it just makes so much sense. posted by TheRoach at 8:33 PM on October 27
Is their stuff available for download anywhere, or do I just not know how to work a MySpace? I need this. Badly. posted by DoubleMark at 6:04 AM on October 28
Just go to PAX to see good video game themed music. Metroid Metal? Check. Minibosses? Check.
Having been a consumer of video game music for the past half a decade, I gotta say that os Gameboys are GREAT. The One Ups are the best, though. They've got a TJ & E rendition of their own, and their Mii Channel is classic. posted by taumeson at 6:06 AM on October 28
