This whole thing is a HOOT! I especially like: Some time after the branding, Morgan was arrested on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, solicitation and lewd and lascivious acts, Fantastic! And: "It's just these freaky practices that I think need to be stopped," Levitt said. How true! And of course... Anderson made unsuccessful mayoral bids in 1979 and 1983. Yes, but my favorite part is this: Anderson was forced to give up his liquor license after being cited for 60 liquor law violations, including (...) staying open past closing time to let patrons show off private body parts. I mean, showing off private body parts past closing time should be a Constitutional right

Beyond that woman being a moron, I find it a bit sad that someone would get a brand for a few cents off their beer. I mean, not only does a brand REALLY REALLY hurt, but it's got ancient cultural significance which is obviously being overlooked by these folks. What a weird, weird world.

I recently upgraded to IE6, and promptly received an electric shock that rendered me temporarily unconscious. When I awoke, I had a searing pain across my buttocks. No brands. Yet. Just a few tattoos and piercings. I have, however, witnessed a branding or two and let me tell you -- it's not something you'd go into lightly. Here's an interesting fact. When you get a tattoo, you're supposed to pamper it. Moisturizer, no picking, no sun, etc. When you get a brand, you're supposed to go at it with a toothbrush everynight. You're supposed to torture it. Pain, pain, pain. Peel the scabs. Scrape at it. That way, you get a darker, more raised scar. Pretty wild, eh? -- Ben Brown, Metafilter's Resident Body Mod Expert

Eh, I think I saw it in the local paper first. I assume that Sellersburg/Speed did too. It still seems to have made people happy here. Good post, I think. Swell: the bar does have t-shirts, but it looks like they don't sell any at the website.
