DOJ Invokes State Secrets Privilege in Suit Challenging Surveillance, arguing that the class action suit to declare the surveillance unlawful must be dismissed because it jeopardizes national security. DOJn has also unveiled new procedures for invoking the "state secrets privilege.". This is not the first time the Obama adminisration has invoked the privilege.

One thing I did take away from this FPP: either ABC news editors think that traversed is synonymous with traveled or Obama did a lot of skiing while in Europe last April.

The UK is ten years ahead of the USA is ten years ahead of Canada in the slow slide down the slippery slope to a surveillance society.

I am frequently frightened by feelings that first they'll come for folk who favour alliteration.

No one's yet mentioned that this is another reneging on the promise of transparency.

On can argue that an brazen surveillance state is worse than one that does it's snooping secretly. If they're openly tapping and taping it has a chilling effect. And one that's furtively hiding its peeing tom tendencies is less likely to act on information it finds, precisely because it's trying to remain concealed.

This, among other reasons, is why I wanted McCain to win.
