Oh god. I don't know why, but that really viscerally freaked me out. Intellectually, I'm sitting here thinking I shouldn't have found that upsetting, but for some reason I'm really distressed. I really didn't like that and I don't know why.

I liked it a lot but the pedant in me really wished they wouldn't have changed wardrobes for the different frames. The effect could've been a lot stronger!

That had the same fucked up, unpleasent vibe as, say, the Teletubbies, or the Saw franchise.

Super bogue.

That kid is going to be quite upset when he or she finds out the truth of it.

You don't like bodies? the prospect of being a parent? rapid change? bad audio layering? the misrepresentation of the truth in any form?

Idea: 9.1

Execution: 3.7 (mainly because of the lack of wardrobe continuity)

From some notes on how we did this: early on, we had this idea that we should wear the same clothes every time, for continuity's sake. But as Raquel's pregnancy developed, we soon discovered that the extra effort required to change in and out of our uniforms was going to interfere with the goal of shooting as many frames as possible, and might even prevent us from finishing the project at all. We dialed down the perfectionism, and in the process ended up having a lot more fun with it.

Yes, Greg Nog, I think that was part of it. Also now that TWPL mentions it, I think the rapid changing of their outfits was upsetting in a "we're trying to cause a seizure" sort of way. And the fact that they switched back and forth from pregnant to non-pregnant as he "blew her up" was also upsetting for some reason; it's not natural to fluctuate like that, you're supposed to keep getting more pregnant until you have the baby, and in the same way, when you're blowing up a balloon, if you're letting the air back out you're doing it wrong, so I didn't expect the reduction in the size of her belly between puffs. All those combined to bother me, I think. Definitely not watching that ever again.

wow that was a great video! good thing it's not that easy though. Otherwise overpopulation may be worse than it already is. Oh wait, maybe it is that easy and that's why the world is overpopulated. hahaha.

Something about the noise and the shrinking stomach is probably what bothers me. It's double disturbing because you're not supposed to be disturbed.

This may be the nadir of the uncanny valley re: time lapse pregnancies. If they remake Rosemary's Baby, this could well be the stinger.

Not saying the couple or the baby are demonic. They're cute as can be.

Man abstinence-only education has caused some real confusion. You need to blow into the left hand to get someone pregnant. Duh.

Surely you'd want to strike your baby down. That'll make it more powerful than you can possibly imagine. And I can imagine quite a bit.

C'mon; everyone knows you can't get pregnant from a blow job.

Am bad that it made me think of this charming family?

Anyway, enjoy your baby. Have a few more (the world desperately needs more smart people with chutzpah). And even though it seems like it'll last forever sometimes, always remember it's a Limited Time Only sort of situation.

So, wait, the man gives a woman a blow job and that's where babies come from?

Thank god I'm queer. Reproduction confuses and frightens me.

This was awesome

CUTE!

Though ok, the thing where he "pops" the baby kind of gets me in a "HUH?" sort of way, but then... BABY. ZOMG. SQUEE.

Oh yeah, the video is also pretty great.

I'm with Caduceus in finding this almost...inimical. Not because of the subject matter. Really hard to explain, but probably something to do with the time-lapseness of it. It disturbed the hell out of me the same way claymation or certain kinds of animation do. This is my problem and nothing to do with the intention of the thing, but it's not that much of an exaggeration to say I'll probably have a nightmare about this and I'm not entirely sure why. I'm just glad I'm not the only one. Then again I was also scared shitless by the good witch's bubble in the wizard of oz.

Thanks, everybody, for the great comments! Glad (most of) you liked our video!

(Caduceus and Dormant Gorilla, so sorry to have induced your respective gag reflexes! They say a violently negative reaction is better than no reaction at all, but believe me that wasn't our intention. :-)

As filthy light thief alluded above, you can read more about how we made the video here: How to Make a "How to Make a Baby".

It's so nice when a couple makes a baby that they actually want. I enjoyed the film, found it cute. I suspect the baby is going to grow up having a lot of fun, with parents like that.

Ah, I thought the implication was that he didn't blow hard enough until the fourth try. You have to do it all in one breath, and if you don't succeed, you have to start over.
