Kazakhstan's radioactive legacyA photo essay of nuclear aftermath in Kazakhstan. Photos are graphic and may not be SFW. Obviously "correlation does not equal causation" comes up, but the outcome of Soviet nuke testing associated with this area appears to have had serious consequences.

Is "correlation does not equal causation" a problem when dealing with nuclear testing?

People can look at this and argue "you can't prove nukes caused (birth defects, higher cancer rates, whatever)" but only highlight a strong association. Even if it seems like without the nukes this stuff would have happened at a much lower rate.
