At first, I thought the joke was the newspaper headlines in the intro, and I didn't think it was very funny. Then the rest loaded, and I clicked and clicked and clicked and clicked.... Great stuff. I love it. The Long Island cartoon is one of the best. It's dead on. It needs nothing more.

These jokes mostly seem obvious, or they're not really jokes at all. But the whole thing is nicely done. I am puzzled by the Brooklyn one. Does it just mean "Brooklyn! Diverse!" or what?

Hell's Kitchen is a devil chef? Boo. Guess my neighborhood isn't easily stereotype-able. But Staten Island as a big question mark is pretty funny. Or just re-use the Jersey animation instead!

Or take the china-town animation, replace the chinese stores with sea gulls and bulldozers, and increase the stink-waves! Seriously. You don't drive through Staten Island with your windows down. It's just not done.

I think the Brooklyn one is meant less to say "Brooklyn! Diversity!" than to say "Brooklyn! Look how diverse we are!" That's how I took it, anyway, like those people were lining up because they knew the "camera" was there.

Being a few blocks away, I got a real kick out of looking at the Wall Street one. I have a friend who's currently interning at UBS Warburg, and it's crazy how often he'll Instant Message me, bored at work, and talk about getting high. Yikes.

Something more than moderately funny. Too many 1970's stereotypes (in fairness, NYC isn't as funny as it used to be). I like the Upper East Side one, which is dead-on. Best part: machaus' Mapquest research.

Aside from the spot-on representation of crappy upper-east-side meat market bars, the jokes all seem a little too easy and/or dated to be funny. The bit about the racial diversity of the city's cab drivers is exactly the sort of joke Letterman has clung to in his transition from great to predictable. Maybe it's just that ParisParamus is right -- NYC just isn't the hilarious mess it used to be. One quick revision I would make is that the couple in Soho should be dressed the same, but going in and out of the Gap, J.Crew, and other vital points of local interest. I did like the "kiss the cook" apron on the Devil, though.

Too many 1970's stereotypes.... I don't think so. The 70's specialized in mugging, shooting, and rape. But the Guide didn't have enough of the Disneyfication and Starbucky sameness (alluded to by BT). But it showed enough of the negative that I wish THE REST OF THE USA would take note and not come to visit.
