The Devil and Mr. Obama

... I can do this thing two ways. I can simply state that the great mocha hope turned out to be a Trojan horse for Wall Street and the Pentagon. Or I can lay in an all-night stock of tequila, limes and reefer and puke up the entire miserable tale like some 5,000 word tequila purged Congolese stomach worm. I have chosen to do the latter. Joe Bageant on the State of the Union. (previously)

tl;dr

He sorta lost me when he started with the Ralph Nader-ian bit about how we really only have one political pary, the party of big business.

Rubbish.

Millions of his former cult members have awakened with a splitting hangover

I don't this is the case at all. Most supporters, I believe, have a pragmatic view that 8 years of horrible policy may take 8 years to correct (or longer)

Axe-grindy crap post. A socialist doesn't like Obama. Film at 11.

Total crap.

In short: We are all hopelessly screwed. Obama = Bush = Every other president, ever. You wouldn't know because you are too oblivious to even see it let alone do anything about it. Thanks goodness you have me to clue you in on the straight dope.

Shit. Is. Tedious.

Nomiconic--

You underestimate how much of our "economic production" is devoted to prisons.

Wait until you guys hear all about how Ontario just implement the HST and whether it's going to create 600,000 jobs and/or be a huge tax grab. It is totally the most important political story of our time and you must know about it RIGHT NOW. It certainly hasn't been covered in every single major news outlet that is read/watched/heard by everyone it effects.

Also, I heard they elected a black guy in the US! President even!

By the way:
Our new poll suggests that liberal unhappiness with Barack Obama is still largely anecdotal and not very widespread. His approval rating with liberal Democrats is 95%, with only 3% disapproving of him.

On health care 88% of voters in that group say they're with Obama and only 7% are opposed. We simply are not seeing any broad evidence of push back toward him from the left for not advocating for single payer.

There is a little more unrest with him on Afghanistan. 68% of liberal Democrats support his approach there with 22% opposed. Even with those who disagree with him on the issue 81% express approval of his overall job performance so it doesn't seem to be a deal breaker by any means.

"Purged up" is actually a pretty good description for the writing in this article. It's what I like to call "superlative soup" where writers spew out sentence of sentence of nearly content free gobbledygook designed to make the qualitative statements they spew resonate inside the hopeless noggins of their poor bedraggled readers like tin dinner pans outside a worn down food shack during the great depression.

as a for instance:

And that is causing unshirted hell for anybody two shades darker than a paper bag, particularly if they are wearing sandals (Obama himself being only one shade darker than the bag and given to size eleven black Cole Haans).

you couldn't just come up with some other fucking way to say "Arabs?" jesus fucking christ.

Something commissioned by the UK's Socialist Review and republished in CounterPunch? What would one expect to be the result? I could have written the bullet points for this overwrought, doctrinaire article while taking a nice nap.

Single link, op-ed, specially commissioned by Socialists and reprinted in counterpoint. Which is basically just one long screed reiterating the broken record of your political views as reiterated at great and repetitive length in your comments day after day. You seriously need to diversify your hobbies.
