The "Bride and Groom" appear to be Chinese opera performers. But the Tengu are awesome.

These are awesome and I like the selections you pulled out, vronsky. One other favorite: prisoners. Never ran into the word cangue before ... or saw one. I don't think I'll be forgetting it.

vronsky, I was spending time on the same blog - it's pretty interesting indeed! It hasn't been updated since July - I am hoping the site is just on hiatus. In that site's blogroll, there is a link to Mexican Pictures which is a great site that has appeared on the blue a few times - it's well worth exploring the projects page.
