The second video (Hot Spot) has been out for some time. I've been waiting for the Snow Business part 2 to see what happens between the bird and the cat. The things this cat does exemplifies my cat's behavior in more than one way... My favorite one of his videos is Let Me In.

Aww, I think Simon's cat is entirely worthy of such enthusiasm. And I'm sober.

Heh, someone's made a fan film featuring another famous cat...

'ray! Thanks HuronBob. Simon's Cat pretty much mirrors our cat's behaviour. As previously mentioned on the green, if he develops opposable thumbs I'm doomed.

Amusing, and odd. Perhaps, too much butthole. We have 5 cats, and I've seen enough cat anii to last a lifetime.
Very ironic, as I saw the book on sale (even cheaper than ordering online which I always do for books) tonight Christmas shopping for my wife but didn't get it. Now I'm gonna have to go back and get the damn thing!
Thanks!

They should do a Garfield minus Garfield with Simon's Cat. Instead of it being the story of Jon Arbuckle's slow descent into madness it would chronicle Simon's cursed life of terror at the hand of maleovalent poltergeist.

I can't exactly begrudge the guy making a quid but I must admit I felt a slight pang of sadness when I saw the Simon's Cat book in the pile of 'comedy/entertainment/oh shit I've not got a present for X yet!' pile in WH Smiths...

Also, this Simon's Cat film is a documentary.

"I can't help but wonder if there is some alcohol involved here."
OK, maybe a little Pinot, but even in the cold hard sober light of a 15 degree winter morning...they still make me smile!

What I think elevates these above a lot of other similar work is that, separate from the anthropomorphic behavior (throwing snowballs, ringing doorbells, etc) which are needed to drive the story, the cat acting like a cat actions are really good. Watching the kitty duel with the bird is fun, but watching the kitty investigate the snow is a truism for anyone who has been around cats and got a huge smile from me.

Now. When do we get to find out what happens with the bird?

My 5 year old daughter watches these over and over on my iPhone. She's going to flip out when I tell her there's a new one. Thanks, HuronBob!

Not just any anii, cat anii.

If this is to truly emulate cat behavior, the bird will end up dead on Simon's doormat with its entrails leaking out.

The earliest Simon's Cat videos are the best, but they're all pretty great. The degree of anthropomorphic behavior has increased as they've gone on, and the best part of the videos is how ridiculously accurate their depiction is of simultaneously adorable and annoying cat behavior. Also the cat noise sound effects are pretty great.

*Thanks* for this!! I'd seen Simon before, but hadn't thought about showing them to my kids (5 and 3) until this was posted. They are absolutely incapacitated with laughter right now, and it's the best sound in the world.

Merry Christmas MeFi!

Simon's cat is cool, but I must admit being disappointed to find the "NEW" videos were actually kind of old (at least in internetcat years) With the headline mentioning holdiays I was expecting snow day part 2 and some kind of "cat vs the christmas tree" episode.
