Creepy, I was just adding The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend (nee Dr. Mrs. The Monarch) to the 'Fairytale of New York thread down below. Always a great part of any holiday season.

It's just not the same without Henchman 24. At least he was there in "spirit."

It's weird to think that the Venture Brothers is 5 years old!

Is it strange that I find their cover of Hard Candy Christmas genuinely moving?

Also: "Thanks, God!"

I checked MeFi last night to see if anyone posted this, and I checked this site to see if there was a new one for this year.

I was genuinely afraid there would be no Venture Brothers Christmas song this year.

FTR, "nee" generally means "born as". It's only used for maiden names. Not for married names, even if divorced.

I'm curious if there is a specific word for similar usage but with married and/or divorced names.

Oh, and thanks for the awesome Venture Christmases!

It was weird at times, but it all came together in the end. And I think 24 will be back. I think Publick and Hammer like him too much to get rid of him forever.

That said, the last episode and the Revenge episode are exactly why I love this show so much.

I love the murderous moppets so much I do.

I'm shocked someone likes them. I always thought everyone hated them...

I too kept checking the various Venture Bros sites, and had begun to fret that there would be no Christmas song! Thanks for this!

("Fairytale of New York" remains my favorite. Not just because it's such an awesome song, and so apt, but also because the gender roles are reversed. The Monarch sings Kirsty McColl's part, and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch sings Shane McGowan's. SO GREAT.)

According to the season 3 commentary, not only do Doc and Jackson love the moppets, they use them as a metric to gauge fans. As one of them said (I think it was Doc), "If you don't like the moppets, we don't like you."

Crud, I actually meant to do it the other way around, after trying to figure out that exact question. This is what working over the holidays gets you I guess...

At least we had new music.

THis was a weird season. I really missed 24 and Brock.

The last episode appeared to bring them both back in some capacity. When the second half of Season 4 starts up in a few months, I have a feeling that we'll be seeing significantly more of them. Then again, Jackson and Doc do love screwing with audience expectations...
