Acoustic Guitar Solos

Brazilian guitarist Naudo has a nice command of his instrument and a relaxed presentation. He plays acoustic guitar standards like Stairway to Heaven and House of the Rising Sun. He plays other popular tunes like Hotel California and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. I especially like his Santana covers: Samba Pa Ti, Black Magic Woman. There's lots more Naudo videos at YouTube, at Naudo's blog, and at Naudo's page on sevenload.

I stumbled across Naudo's videos after viewing the Igor Presnyakov plays classical guitar thread. I liked Naudo better, so I posted some of my new favorites. Notice that Naudo plays in gurn-free manner--another thing I liked.

What is it with the acoustic guitar covers of Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2? Seriously, I love the song, but I can think of a ton of other Pink Floyd songs (Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, amiright?) I'd rather hear these guys cover. Is it the fact that it was a hit? The recognizeability of the melody?

Barf.. another version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

People don't have to covering a song just because the cover ever in the history of the universe has already be done. I mean some people might not like the Ukulele. Those people would be stupid.

Uh... That's "stop covering" and "best cover". And I want my three edit button.(And if you watch it, make sure you hang around for the bridge at about 2:55.)

Yamandu Costa is my favorite Brazilian guitarist; enormous charisma and technique in his performance. SLYT to him playing 7-string guitar (!) on what appears to be some kind of chat show.

Samba Pa Ti is really nice. Black Magic Woman is also great, I couldn't get it to work without manually configuring my Flash blocker to be disabled for that site though so here's the same track on YouTube. Also like his Eye of the Tiger.

Nice find. I really like his sense of tone.

Totally in a different style, but every time I hear a new "While my guitar..." cover, I'm reminded of the Prince version caught at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I like how it reminds me that this is a great song, and that Prince has an amazing sense of time and tone, and really wrings the solo out of that song. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, watch the whole thing. The other guys just sort of tell him to go for it, and he does. Twice.

These are great. Thank you RussHy!

I have to put in a plug for my favorite acoustic guitar cover of Stairway to Heaven done by Classical Guitar duo Rodrigo Y Gabriella.

I can think of a ton of other Pink Floyd songs... I'd rather hear these guys cover.

Perhaps you'd enjoy RodGab's inspired-by-Pink-Floyd 11:11?
