Shark bites off boy's armand it's reattached! I know it's a Yahoo! link, but this seems incredible. The boy's uncle wrestled the shark to the beach where it was shot and the limb was retrieved from the shark's mouth. Is there anything science and strong uncles can't do?

No, sadly, it cannot. Nor can it help me follow every link on Metafilter. Stupid science, what good are you at all?! posted by megnut at 9:25 PM on July 8, 2001
science can be wonderful indeed! just think: his love is real... but he is not

Sad to say, it's not going well. His kidneys have failed. They've moved him to another hospital for dialysis treatment. It's not looking good. (Sometimes that's temporary, but it might also be permanent.)
It's also possible that he suffered brain damage. His heart was stopped for a long time. That may also be why his kidneys failed, and if so, then there's probably other organic damage.
(Meg, sorry about that. I'm not one who ordinarily jumps on double posts, but the question just begged for that answer.) posted by Steven Den Beste at 9:49 PM on July 8, 2001
Since this post is likely to get deleted by Matt anyway, I'd just like to take this temporary opportunity to remind everyone that you're all going to die.
Most likely, it will sooner than you think.
