I prefer it as a short film. And it also seems a lot longer that way. posted by Astro Zombie at 9:57 PM on February 9
The sawing sounded like a squeaky wheel to me. What happened to that young fellow that ran off, will there be a sequel? posted by tellurian at 10:06 PM on February 9
Ever wonder what a music video would be like without the music?
That reminded me of one of our local radio station's taglines: "We play your favorite music videos. Without the video." posted by amyms at 10:06 PM on February 9
Pff. They've been doing this for years. Maya Deren's Meshes of the Afternoon is a total ripoff of a Milla Jojovic video. And A Trip to the Moon is just a silent black-and-white version of Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight Tonight. posted by FuManchu at 10:48 PM on February 9 [1 favorite]
This is so, so great. I feel like I'm witnessing the birth of a new art form. We can now go back and re-do the tens of thousands of videos that have been made since the 1970s, and re-imagine them without the horrible music. (One of my favorite things is to put a ragtime soundtrack on hip-hip videos: the rhythmic alteration turns the crude dancing into a kind of gentle ballet, not unlike Laurel and Hardy's twosome in "Way out West"). posted by Faze at 4:58 AM on February 10
Not quite ragtime, not quite as elegant, but pretty god damn funny. posted by litleozy at 6:12 AM on February 10 [1 favorite]
Nilsson's video to "Alice" by Moby creeps me the living hell out, yet fascinates me.
Same thing with his video to "Knife" by Silent Shout. posted by edheil at 6:25 AM on February 10
Or rather, "Silent Shout" by The Knife, as I would have said if I was actually awake. :( posted by edheil at 6:26 AM on February 10

FuManchu: this would have been even funnier with Milla Jovovich's name spelled correctly. Still, props. (Link goes to Wikipedia article mentioning the connection.) posted by IAmBroom at 10:42 AM on February 10
