Legos are great, but AFOL is a bad name. and having the phrase "Adult fans" in your subculture name sounds totally creepy. They need another name. I suggest Legoliers, Snappers, or Try-not-to-step-on-my-hobbyists. posted by Uppity Pigeon #2 at 2:50 PM on February 28, 2010

Nobody want to make a documentary about my Fans of Adult Lego group. posted by nanojath at 5:44 PM on February 28, 2010
The thing that stuck out to me about the workshops of the builders was the lack of labels. Do they just remember what is where? I know most of them were transparent, but still, it's hard to tell a 3x3 from a 3x2 through a plastic bin. posted by jouir at 5:46 PM on February 28, 2010
"Our beloved sound..."
This is great. I watched it with my seven-year-old son, who is a Lego fanatic. I then showed him that the guy who made these, which show up in the film, called one of his pieces a favorite on Flickr. You should've seen his grin.
Hi corpse! I am "daveexmachina" on Flickr and to my knowledge, nothing of mine was featured in the documentary. I think you may be referring to "CubeDudes", which I have made a couple of and when show up towards the end, but are a style invented by Angus MacLane (who works for Pixar, and has been on MetaFilter before).
However, I DID favorite your son's centapedd because it's awesome. I run a daily Lego blog called Lego Diem and look at every photo on Flickr tagged "lego", favoriting ones which I may want to put on the blog or ones that are just plain great. As much as I like looking at the creations of people like those featured in the documentary, I really like seeing kids' creations and hearing the stories behind them. posted by Legomancer at 6:33 PM on March 1, 2010 [1 favorite]
Well, hey! Yup, it was the CubeDudes. I presumed they were yours. posted by The corpse in the library at 8:43 AM on March 2, 2010
