The second one, at least, is made of acrylic gummy bears, not real ones. Which answers my question about whether these things will attract bugs, but also seems a little like cheating.

A sweet chandelier made of approximately 5,000 hand-strung acrylic gummi bears.

Acrylic is not really a sweet.

I looked first at the location bar when the boingboing link loaded, and wondered how a chandelier could be made from html (or what that had to do with sweets).

Homer: Ooh, gummi bears! Gummi calves' heads...gummi jaw breakers!
[sees a gummi figure on a red pillow in a glass case, turning]
Homer: [lustily] Ohh...[walks up] What's that?
Man: [German accent] That is the rarest gummi of them all, the gummi
Venus de Milo, carved by gummi artisans who were exclusively in
the medium of gummi.
Marge: Will you two stop saying "gummi"
