If you need a datapoint, my four-year old daughter loves Good Night Moon and Star Wars, and she got a big kick out of tonight's bed time story.

I read my son "Goodnight Moon" when he goes to bed. When he gets old enough, he's getting this version.

For parents or whoever looking for other parodies, I recommend Goodnight Goon, which doesn't try to mimic the artwork (sadly), but does great work with the text. My two-year-old doesn't get the joke but still loves it.
