SynchItis a bookmark manager that allows you to access your favorites list from multiple machines. However, their server does not seem to be responding.

Since I was out of town (and away from my machine) for all of last week, can anyone tell me what the deal is?

Do you mean SyncIT?

It's a wonderful little service and I'd be lost without it, but yes, it seems to have been unavailable all morning.

Does anyone have any other viable alternatives to SyncIT (aside from the incredibly annoying Blink and the nice but not-Netscape6-compatible Yahoo! Companion)?

Kinda-sorta related, while we're at least talking about portable bookmarks: how about cross-platform solutions, e.g., PeeCee at work and Mac at home? The late, lamented DeepLeap (I sigh with Jenna) looked like it was poised to make huge strides here...

What I've been doing lately is using bookmarks.yahoo.com to store the bookmarks. On Windows, I can use Yahoo Companion to get at them, but on the Mac, I just set their bookmark export page as my home page (and drop it in IE5's "page holder") to get at them. Works pretty well for me, in the absence of a real cross-platform solution.

You can check the status (including your last successful synchronization) of SyncIT from a right-click on the taskbar icon. I haven't gotten an update from my work machine since the 10th. I thought I'd been able to connect from home more recently, but I'll have to double-check tonight.

when i go home, i remember where i've been and use a virtual bookmark in my brain. totally cross-platform, except it doesn't work well in netscape 4.

So far, the best option I've found has been Yahoo! Bookmarks, with the great feature of adding new bookmarks via Yahoo! Companion. Unfortunately, it's not as featureful as some other sites, but it's definitely the easiest and most accessible set-up I've found..

Yahoo Bookmarks is what I've been using for my mac and PC. Because Yahoo Messenger has your bookmarks built into it, so it works on both platforms.

I put in a server side link script at my site. It doesn't do the nifty stuff like import and export bookmarks (some stuff I was thinking about adding myself) but it is usefull enough and much faster than the other services I tried.
