Northwest Coast Archaeology [via
mefi projects]
Rumple has been busy creating a great blog about the archaeology of Northwestern North America, especially coastal Alaska, British Columbia and Washington State.
Northwest Coast Archaeology is a fine example of an Internet community: besides Rumple's frequent posts, the blog has a devoted, informed and articulate crowd of commentators that have in-depth discussions about archaeology.
The latest post,
Aboriginal bridges of northwestern BC, provides some fine examples of pre-contact (as well as post-contact) First Nations engineering here in North America.
Rumple's blog links to fantastic
map resources,
paleo-climatology, and
Clovis archaelogical culture, among many, many other fascinating topics.
A personal favourite post is a link to
an interactive map of Coast Salish villages of Puget Sound.
As an example of the blogs function as a community and teaching resource, Rumple also
collates links to theses and dissertations of interest for Northwest Coast and Northwest Interior archaeology.
