THIS ITEM CONTAINS DANGEROUS QUANTITIES OF AWESOME.

Is "Dino-Tank" part dinosaur, part tank, or just a lazy dinosaur who doesn't want to walk around? Neither this video clip nor the rambling description/history of Dino-Tank on Wikipedia clarify this (the description of this as a "biological war machine" seem too simple, as based on that video clip, it seems more like a turtle augmented with wheels).

(Also: via is missing it's via link)

So glad to see Dino-tank is nothing like Tub Girl.

Further example of Dino-Tank being a lazy dinosaur: figure X.

That said, good find, fine use of tags (sadly the first use of the POW! and PUNCH! tags).

Other stuff: I don't know what's going on here, but I like to think that Human Man started spreading nasty rumors between the kaiju, and instead of having people fight the kaiju, they're no fighting each-other. His pose in the foreground is stating: "score another triumph for the ingenuity of mankind!"

We have a lot of this on DVD... Relatives record this stuff from TV and send us dozens and dozens of DVDs every year.

Meetup at KokuRyu's place!

Oh, right, you're kind of far away. Crumbs.

I really like the very casual way Ultra 7 is smacking Aron's forelimb off in that first image. He is way too cool for the playground. Or maybe it's just that his face is rigidly blank.
posted by GenjiandProust at 10:05 AM on April 16, 2010

And Aron's face is all "OH THAT ULTRA 7!"

Also, I notice that they have a gigantic mutant walrus, and the best name they came up with was "Peter?" It is an old and proud name, but not quite as cosmic as Kanegon or Todora...

At first I was thinking, "gee, Dino-Tank doesn't have much in the way of guns", but then realized how foolish I was.

That Ultra 7 seems to be a bit of a dead-faced bully, smacking people's arms off and such. No wonder they team up against him.

And "Warning: Contains Dino-Tank" is like "Warning: if erection last more than four hours...".

Dino tank is awesome, but I think Tarkus would totally trounce him. (Great Tarkus cover.)

Ultraseven is a good role model. Too me, he seems to have a permanent smile, no matter how perilous the situation or frightful the alien invader. Plus he has a cool theme song.

Some of them seem hilariously as if the participants were engaged in something err...other than fighting (left part here, with spectacular athleticism here).

I don't know what other activity you were thinking of. Clearly ultraman in fully clothed in both those pictures. *shifty eyes*

i must confess that when this used to come on afternoon tv i would hide behind my sister - there was this sea creature with a octopus like body and a whirling head with tentacles that would give me nightmares

Hmm. Needs more me.

I think the reason I like the Godzilla movies/monsters more is that there's no moral component to the kaiju's actions. There's no reason, they just destroy shit.. Kanegon? He became a horrible monster because he was greedy? Piffle. Godzilla is just a force of nature, or, you know, our own horrible mistakes come back to destroy our cities, again and again. And some day, I swear, I'll finally kick his ass. Not for any particular reason, mind you, but because it's what Kaiju do.
