Seems like something I might enjoy. posted by box at 1:42 PM on April 29, 2010 [1 favorite]
I still think we need a show with mathowie and cortex. Either they'd be all Odd Couple and it'd be funny, or they'd get along swimmingly and it would be awesome.

It shall be called "rafflers".
As for the free box - I watched the beginnings of a few and it was kind of tortured and forced. posted by cashman at 1:54 PM on April 29, 2010
Daughter is currently scouring Portland Craigslist for a room. . .what fortuitous timing! posted by Danf at 1:54 PM on April 29, 2010

with the title, it seems like it would be neat if each month one of the roommates was offered a box with a button that would reward them with a million dollars but would result in the death of somebody else in the house. posted by fallacy of the beard at 2:05 PM on April 29, 2010

On first read, I thought the show had "three 10-second episodes." For a moment, it seemed right up my alley. posted by bicyclefish at 2:31 PM on April 29, 2010
This is a really neat concept but the writing is abyssmal. posted by Betty_effn_White at 2:57 PM on April 29, 2010
It kind of has to grow on you, but the later episodes of the first season and the second season are really good. posted by djduckie at 3:01 PM on April 29, 2010
These have got to be Reedies, right? posted by gleuschk at 3:01 PM on April 29, 2010
The general alt-culture no car owning pot smoking living with housemates shopping at the co-op scene in Portland vastly outnumbers the Reed enrollment numbers. posted by idiopath at 3:24 PM on April 29, 2010
Hm. Does the Reed SU still have a "free box"? I still have a lovely pinstriped sport jacket I got from there. posted by gleuschk at 4:04 PM on April 29, 2010
I never knew the Reed SU had one. Lots of places here have free boxes though (my bike shoes came from the free box outside my favorite bike store), I have even lived in houses with a "house free box", it didn't occur to me that the title may be referring to a single iconic one. posted by idiopath at 5:19 PM on April 29, 2010
Wait so did the original girl have something else come up? posted by Groovytimes at 1:03 AM on April 30, 2010
I am guessing that having her disappear in the way she did was an attempt to write her out of the series in a way that left open the possibility that she would eventually return. It was their equivalent to the soap opera "character goes into coma" plot twist. posted by idiopath at 1:08 AM on April 30, 2010
