The Boy Who Cried Cal

Kevin Hart was a normal high school football player, trying to be the big man on campus. Then, it all went horribly wrong.

"It finally dawned on Kevin that, academically, he wasn't D-I-ready. But that was his secret and his secret alone. He wasn't going to rush back to Fernley and validate all the stooges who had questioned his IQ. He was now the BMOC, walking the halls of the school with a swagger. He was all-state! He couldn't come clean now, could he? He couldn't say, Oh well, it looks like junior college for me."

Interesting story. I feel bad for Kevin - he didn't mean to hurt anyone, he was just a dumb kid. Hopefully this learning experience will be a positive one for him.

A confused Kribs called Kevin for an explanation. The kid was busted! It was over! Or it should've been. But Kevin tap-danced and told Kribs that Cal had to tell him that. He told Kribs that schools aren't allowed to comment on recruits, which is why Michalczik had denied it. Kribs believed Kevin. Why wouldn't he?

You mean everyone found out he was a lying dumbass? He doesn't deserve any sympathy and his story should be buried.

Seems interesting, but it's pretty impenetrably written to someone not intimately familiar with the inner workings high school sports.

Could be worse - Harvard student arrested for fraud for faked transcripts, recommendation letters, and references. Apparently he got caught while trying to get a Rhodes scholarship.

You're right, his mistake at age 18 should seal his eternal doom.

i wonder if the parents are reconsidering the obviously wasted time they're spending in church every day.
