Sounded way too much like Enigma's Sadness for me to last more than 10 seconds. posted by furtive at 11:05 AM on May 22, 2010
I was just going to say 'has Enigma released a new CD?' but furtive beat me to it. But seriously - this slaughter of natural noise must be stopped. Don't click the link; don't give them any ideas about how popular this could become - next it's the beauty of whalesound, mutated into a Cher single. Think of your ears. posted by Hardcore Poser at 11:09 AM on May 22, 2010
The kitteh is on my lap right now so I will have to wait on this one. posted by longsleeves at 11:11 AM on May 22, 2010 [3 favorites]
don't worry, it won't scare the kitten... doesn't even sound like wolves....
my dog disapproved, she said that a wolf's howl is just fine without someone fucking with it like this! posted by HuronBob at 11:36 AM on May 22, 2010
meh- I was excited until I heard it. I'm generally a fan of auto tuning, but this does not enhance the original- it does nothing for the natural lonely beauty of the wolves howls. posted by arnicae at 11:51 AM on May 22, 2010 [2 favorites]
I kind of like autotuned animals. These cats are my favourites—the squirming orange kitten melody gets lodged in my head for days at a time whenever I listen to it. These wolves are less catchy but awesome nonetheless. posted by bewilderbeast at 12:41 PM on May 22, 2010 [2 favorites]
What else can we autotune? The wails of the anguished? Boiling lobsters? Car crashes? Bumfights? I know! How about we pump air into the various orifices of a corpse and autotune the result?
Seriously, lets run through all the possibilities so we can be done with this already. posted by Cat Pie Hurts at 12:47 PM on May 22, 2010 [1 favorite]

Autotune is the kudzu of the music world.
And I can't wait for it to engulf everything. posted by Evilspork at 1:07 PM on May 22, 2010
OK I played it and my cat was more critical of the cheesy synth beats than anything else. posted by longsleeves at 2:40 PM on May 22, 2010

Beardman - these might be the mice try that with. Skip to around the 4:15 mark for best results. posted by Horatius at 7:19 PM on May 22, 2010
I liked it, because once you put enough AutoTune on something, it just ends up sounding like a crazy synth line, and i like crazy synth lines just fine. posted by infinitywaltz at 9:53 PM on May 22, 2010
Would have been better with slower tracking. The fast tracking just makes it sound generic. posted by Jimmy Havok at 11:59 PM on May 22, 2010

That's a reaction that I would not have expected. I had assumed that the exercise was intended as an indictment of autotuning as a generally-lamented tool used in 'popular music' to make singers lacking actual talent sound somewhat more musical.
